AltCollections: Making curriculum resources accessible to teachers with EasyConverter

Regional Support Centre North and East logoMuch of the attention regarding alternative format creation in the educational sphere lies with making the curriculum accessible for students with visual impairments and learning disabilities. Paying attention to these areas is of the upmost importance to ensure an accessible curriculum, however it is also important to consider teaching staff who may also require teaching and learning resources in alternative formats.

To this end, the Scottish North and East Regional Support Centre (RSC) has been making a real difference by promoting the use of alternative formats to teaching staff through the addition of its AltCollections web space.

AltCollections is specifically designed for teaching staff seeking to source electronic resources in alternative formats, such as large print, audio (MP3), and/or Digital Talking Books (DTB). What's more, many of the materials provided on AltCollections have been created using Dolphin EasyConverter.

"The benefits of using EasyConverter is that it's so much easier and less time consuming than my previous methods. The innovative interface makes it easy to convert to a range of formats."
(Craig Mill, RSC North and East)

AltCollections contains a range of learning and teaching materials, including curriculum support packs at NQ and HNC level as well as a range of Clicker Grids, Word resources, interactive and switch accessible PowerPoint slides, symbol sets, Penfriend lexicons, overlays for Intellikeys and much, much more.
