NB: Please note that product names in this article may have changed since the time of writing.
When you attempt to make a Skype call in Guide you receive a message "Skype is not running". When you attempt to sign into Skype in Windows, the above message is displayed.
To resolve this problem, disable the Skype Updater Service.
1. Press WINDOWS KEY + R
2. Type: services.msc
3. Press OK
4. In the list of services that opens, locate "Skype Updater" and open this item
5. Click the "Stop" button if running, and from the "Startup Type" list box select "Disabled"
