SuperNova 101

Welcome to Dolphin's Distance Learning SuperNova Accreditation
The course consists of 17 bite size tutorials.
1. Meet Dolphin SuperNova (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to explain what editions of SuperNova are available; explain the main differences between the SuperNova editions; explain what installation options SuperNova supports; explain what limitations are present in the demonstration version. This module will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. Note: You do not need to run SuperNova to complete this module.
2. Control Panel (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to clearly understand the purpose of the SuperNova control panel; be able to label the main parts of the SuperNova control panel; independently navigate the SuperNova control panel using the keyboard; configure the main SuperNova control panel options and explain this to others; call up the SuperNova Popup Menu and explain who might benefit from its use. This module will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
3. Magnifier (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to use three different ways to turn SuperNova Magnifier on and off; clearly explain three different ways to change the size of magnification; review the screen using the keyboard; explain what benefits each Magnifier View offers. This module will take approximately 60 minutes to complete.
4. Hooked Areas (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to explain the purpose of a Hooked Area; give examples when Hooked Areas are used; independently create, hide and delete Hooked Areas. This module will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
5. Multiple Monitors (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to explain what is meant by Multiple Monitor support; explain how to configure Windows to support multiple monitors; explain how to move focus from one monitor to another; explain the purpose of mouse resistance. This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Note: This module is presented in a series of videos. You are not required to undertake any practical exercises.
6. Visual Effects - Making the screen easier to see (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to create your own custom colour schemes to suit a user’s individual requirements; add highlighting to make areas of the screen stand out; make the mouse pointer easier to locate. This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
7. Voice Settings (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to use different methods to turn the voice on and off, as well as control the speed and volume of the voice; demonstrate how to change synthesizer; demonstrate how to change voice and language settings in SuperNova. This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
8. Reading Methods (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to clearly explain how to use Read From Here; know the difference between Doc Reader and Read From Here; use Line View Mode and describe who would find it most useful. This module will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
9. Typing And Reading (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to use different ways to control what the voice says when typing; name the main SuperNova Speak Keys; understand the purpose of text style announcements and their importance for Screen Reader users. This module will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
10. Verbosity and Keyboard Announcements (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to explain the purpose of Verbosity Schemes; explain the purpose of Keyboard Announcements. This module will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
11. Dolphin Cursor (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to clearly explain the purpose of the Dolphin Cursor; explain how to switch on the Dolphin Cursor, then use it to move around a web page, dialog box and a Word window; explain how to use the Dolphin Cursor to interact with elements on a web page; understand the difference between the Automatic Dolphin Cursor and the Restricted Dolphin Cursor. This module will take approximately 60 minutes to complete.
12. Item Finder (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to explain the role of the Item finder; explain the key applications that support the Item Finder. This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
13. Bookshelf (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to correctly name three or more functions of Bookshelf; independently use Bookshelf to scan and read a hardcopy document or an electronic file; independently use Bookshelf to download and read a book; independently add, listen to and remove a radio station or podcast from Bookshelf. NOTE: Scan & Read is not included in SuperNova Magnifier.
14. Touchscreen Overview
By the end of this module you will be able to correctly name icons on the SuperNova Touch Bar; give accurate instructions to perform 5 SuperNova functions using touch screen gestures; accurately describe the purpose of touch sensitivity; give accurate instructions to adjust touch sensitivity.
15. Hot Key Conflicts (version 16)
Sometimes you can find SuperNova hot keys conflict with another application's hot keys. By the end of this module you will be able to resolve this issue in a number of different ways.
16. Application Settings And Situation Settings (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to explain the purpose of Application Settings and Situation Settings; create Application Settings and Situation Settings; identify what settings in SuperNova are Global Settings and what are Application Settings. This module will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
17. Help! (version 16)
By the end of this module you will be able to find what version of SuperNova is running and identify other customer specific information; explain how to open the SuperNova Manual and navigate it; know where to find other sources of help; use My Notes in any application. This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
