We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our Worcester-based testing team to assist with quality assurance against accessibility standards and guidelines to ensure an inclusive user experience and compliance with relevant legislation. What sort of work might you be doing?

Your role will be varied right from the start, growing in responsibility as you progress. Types of responsibilities you might be tasked with include:

  • Test and audit Dolphin Windows, web and mobile applications and digital content to ensure that it complies with accessibility standards and guidelines such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines).
  • Coordinate end-user testing of Dolphin assistive technology. 
  • Prepare and maintain test plans and test cases to ensure interoperability between assistive technologies and mainstream technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers, and voice recognition software.
  • Written reports that provide feedback on accessibility to developers and project teams.
  • Assist with project management - helping to coordinate testing schedules, communicate test status with project stakeholders, and ensuring timely delivery of written accessibility test reports.
  • Contribute to design meetings and provide input on accessibility considerations. Reviewing design mock-ups and prototypes to identify potential accessibility issues early in the development process.
  • Continually updating own knowledge in the field of digital accessibility and the different accessibility guidelines and legislation, such as the Equality Act 2010, EN301549, and Section 508.

What experience do you need?

  • 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C in English and Mathematics)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products and operating systems
  • Good troubleshooting knowledge of hardware and software issues
  • Knowledge of assistive technology is desirable.

Training to be provided:

Level 4 (Higher National Certificate) apprenticeship qualification.

Optional - International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB) Foundation Software Testing certification.
