ScreenReader 12.03
Released:
Version 12.03 is available as a free update for all SuperNova version 12 customers - download it via the 'Internet Updater'.
This v12.03 update is a further stability release building on v12.02's increased reliability. A large number of issues reported by Dolphin's dealers and customers working with Dolphin's product support departments have also been addressed.
Dolphin HIGHLY recommend this update to all SuperNova v12 users.
Crash Fixes
CRASH FIX: A Snova.exe crash that occurred whilst using Internet Explorer has been fixed. #18087.
CRASH FIX: An intermittent crash in the dol_osm.dll that occurred when altering the screen resolution has been resolved. #17697.
CRASH FIX: A fix has been included for the dol_sit.dll crash that occurred in v12.02 whilst using iTunes and Tune Up Companion. #18367.
CRASH FIX: The Snova.exe crash arose whilst installing Adobe Reader has been fixed. #17749.
CRASH FIX: Several instances of the dolmagengine.dll magnification engine crash have been resolved. #18089, #18114, #18286, #18250, #18283.
CRASH FIX: A dol_mem.dll crash associated with the Microsoft Wireless Mouse software has been fixed. #18399.
CRASH FIX: Several instances of the Snova.exe crash experienced in Firefox, Internet Explorer & Adobe Reader have been put right. #18732, #18703, #18701, #18732, #18558.
CRASH FIX: A SuperNova crash whilst using Line View has been fixed. #18608.
CRASH FIX: A Doc Reader crash caused by setting the synthesiser set to "No Synth" has been fixed. #18609.
CRASH FIX: A ntdll.dll crash is now resolved. #18814.
CRASH FIX: A crash that occurred whilst alt tabbing to and from the SuperNova control panel has been repaired. #18436.
CRASH FIX: A crash experienced by some users created by opening SuperNova's Item Finder in Internet Explorer 8 has been resolved. #17725.
CRASH FIX: An Outlook 2003 crash that occurred when closing down Windows 7 has been fixed. #18756.
CRASH FIX: An Adobe Reader X crash caused by SuperNova v12 has been fixed. #17717.
CRASH FIX: Microsoft Outlook add-in now uses safer method to access the shared memory used by the script.
FIX: A potential Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) experienced during session logoff or shutdown has been resolved.
NEW: Dolphin's Office Add-in used for SuperNova's support in Outlook and Word is now able to produce crash reports should the need arise.
Resources
FIX: Windows XP users running Service Pack 3 may have noticed the dolserve.exe was constantly using 60 to 80% of CPU usage. This has now been fixed in v12.03. #16443.
FIX: Various memory leaks have been identified and resolved.
CHANGE: Version 12.03 now uses a single thread for its magnification engine.
CHANGE: SuperNova's magnification engine has been modified so it will continue to operate even if SuperNova's interceptor is out of date.
Hotkeys
FIX: When choosing a hotkey set other than the Dolphin Desktop Default, the change was not reflected the next time either the Keyboard or Hotkeys dialogs were opened. The selected hotkey set was being overwritten when applying other settings in the keyboard dialog. This has now been fixed. #18102.
Visual
FIX: Some users may have found that pressing F7 and F8 did not adjust the magnification size at the Windows logon screen. This is resolved in this v12.03 update.
FIX: SuperNova users may have noticed that they were prevented from adjusting their colour scheme having previously made colour scheme changes via the Setup Wizard. This problem has been resolved. #18680.
Microsoft Office
FIX: Dolphin's Office Add-in used for SuperNova's support in Outlook and Word is now installed when SuperNova is installed. This change means that it no longer matters whether SuperNova or Word/Outlook are launched first. Previously opening Word/Outlook before launching SuperNova resulted in incorrect speech announcements and erratic behaviour.
Word
FIX: Word users also using SuperNova with the Vocalizer synthesiser may have been experiencing problems where the suggestion in the Spell Check dialogue was not being spelt out. A fix for this problem has now been made in the SAM Vocalizer driver. #19045.
FIX: When using Microsoft Word 2007, numbered lists weren't being automatically announced when you moved to a new line or number. Pressing enter in a numbered list should also speak the next starting number this wasn't happening. Both of these problems have been resolved. #18550.
FIX: The Dolphin Cursor has been improved to better support cells with multiple lines of text in Microsoft Word. #18782, #15055.

FIX: Live mode speech attributes were being applied when using the Dolphin Cursor in Microsoft Word. This has now been fixed.
FIX: Blank lines are now having their correct location announced when using the Dolphin Cursor in Microsoft Word.
FIX: Dolphin's Office Add-in used for SuperNova's support in Outlook and Word, has been improved so that it re-enables itself if Office disables due to a crash. #18778.
FIX: "Table" was being re-read if you cursored back through the text you typed in that table. This is now resolved.
FIX: When Windows was set to use the Classic display, the "Print dialog" does not speak correctly In Microsoft Word 2007. This is now fixed. #18266.

FIX: Changes in to SuperNova's Off Screen Model meant that SuperNova wasn't tracking the focus correctly in Word XP and Word 2003. This is resolved in v12.03
Outlook
FIX: Spurious text that read has been appearing in some html emails in Outlook 2003. This problem has been fixed.
FIX: An occasional hang when closing Outlook 2007 has been stopped.
FIX: In Microsoft Outlook XP and 2003 the Automatic Dolphin Cursor wasn't turning on by default as it should. This has been resolved.
FIX: When cursoring through html emails in Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 passing over a hyperlink caused the focus highlighting to be out of sync with the speech or magnification. This has now been resolved.
FIX: When entering the About Box in Internet Explorer 8 SuperNova v12 slowed down and could cause a freeze. This is now resolved. #18239
FIX: Changes to SuperNova's Off Screen Model meant that SuperNova wasn't tracking the focus correctly in Outlook XP and Word 2003. This is resolved in v12.03.
Windows Live Mail
NEW: There are new hotkeys for SuperNova users working in Windows Live Mail.
CAPS LOCK + A moves the focus to the first attachment
CAPS LOCK + C move to the Add contact button.
Previously this was difficult using Windows Live Mail. #18445, #18446.
FIX: Windows Live Mail's spelling window and edit area now speak and Braille as expected. #18421.
Windows Explorer
FIX: Whilst using Windows Explorer the wrong item numbers were being reported when items names were numbers. #18832
Adobe Reader
FIX: A fix has been included where the focus was jumping when form filling PDFs with Adobe Reader. #15787.
Citrix
FIX: The SLS storage has been modified to make the thread safe. This might fix some intermittent Blue Screen crashes (BSOD's) on Citrix.
Other
FIX: Arabic editions of the Dolphin Pen were failing to start up in the Arabic language. This has now been resolved.
FIX: A fix has been made for an error message that was presenting to some Samsung monitor users with "MagicRotation" software. #18514.
FIX: Some edit areas that are greyed out where not being announced as such. This is now resolved.
FIX: Some Windows 7 users may have noticed that having typed some text into the Search edit area of the Start Menu, cursoring through the results the didn't speak correctly. This has been fixed in the v12.03 update.
FIX: Problems tracking the "Add/Remove Programs" dialog have been resolved. #17461.
FIX: SuperNova's F1 help is now available in the Adjust Windows Settings dialog. #17809.
Training Mode
IMPROVEMENT: Previously if you trained something in a map as a tooltip it used to be killed in other applications that used your same map. This is no longer the case.
Scripting Engine
NEW: Sometimes when calling the EventApplicationFocusChange scripting function on of the parameters was nil. It is now available. #16559.
