Dolphin Converter - How to move your Braille file to your Orbit Reader

You can read your Braille file electronically with the Orbit Reader or another Braille Reader. Below are some basic instructions for transferring your conversion to the Orbit Braille Reader. For additional help with reading the file electronically, please refer to the documentation provided with your Braille Reader.

 

There are two ways to transfer your Braille file to the Orbit Reader. You can transfer the file to the Orbit Reader’s hard drive, or to the Orbit Reader’s SD card.

 

To transfer the Braille file to the Orbit Reader’s hard drive:

  1. Turn your Orbit Reader on and set it to ‘Mass Storage mode’
  2. Connect your Orbit Reader to your computer using the USB cable provided with your Orbit Reader.
  3. Use Dolphin Converter to convert your document into Braille
  4. Once your conversion has completed, choose the ‘Show Location’ button to open the folder containing your Braille file in File Explorer
  5. Copy the ‘.brl’ file either by right clicking on the ‘.brl’ file and choosing ‘copy’, or selecting the file and pressing the hotkey CTRL + C.
  6. Press WINDOWS KEY + E to open File Explorer, then find the drive relating to the Orbit Reader.
  7. Paste the ‘.brl’ file into the Orbit Reader drive either by right clicking and choosing ‘Paste’ or by using the hotkey CTRL + V
  8. The Braille file will now be available on your Orbit Reader’s hard drive. You can disconnect your Orbit Reader from your computer. To do this, right click the Orbit Reader drive in Windows Explorer, then select ‘Eject’. You can now safely disconnect your Orbit Reader from your computer.
  9. Find the Braille file on your Orbit Reader, then press dot 8 to open the file and begin reading it as electronic Braille

 

To transfer the Braille file to the Orbit Reader’s SD card:

  1. Insert the SD card used by your Orbit Braille Reader into your computer.
  2. Use Dolphin Converter to convert your document into Braille
  3. Once your conversion has completed, choose the ‘Show Location’ button to open the folder containing your Braille file in File Explorer
  4. Copy the ‘.brl’ file either by right clicking on the ‘.brl’ file and choosing ‘copy’, or selecting the file and pressing the hotkey CTRL + C.
  5. Press WINDOWS KEY + E to open File Explorer, then find the drive relating to the SD card which you inserted.
  6. Paste the ‘.brl’ file into the SD card drive either by right clicking and choosing ‘Paste’ or by using the hotkey CTRL + V
  7. Eject the SD card from your computer by right clicking on the SD card drive in File Explorer, then selecting ‘Eject’.
  8. Insert the SD card back into the Orbit Reader
  9. Ensure the Orbit Reader is set to ‘Stand Alone Mode’
  10. Find the Braille file from your SD card using the Orbit Reader, then press dot 8 to open the file and begin reading it as electronic Braille
