Learn Dolphin EasyConverter - Enhance image in EasyConverter Part 1 of 2

Hello and welcome to the Dolphin Easy converter Video tutorials. In this tutorial I am going to be focused on the enhanced image tool. OK, so I have got this PDF here and it is two pages. One is mostly text. The other one has a couple of images in. This image in particular is what I am interested in. I would like to take this image and also the text from the second page. I think I would like to tidy this image up a little as well. So this background colour here I would like to take out and maybe change the colours of the rest of the image. So I am going to select the enhance image tool, which will take me into the enhance image environment. As you can see there are two pains here, firstly I have got one for my original page and the second one on the right, that’s for the edited image, so that is what it is going to look like when we are finished. I have also got a number of tools across the top here. I have got the pointer tool, so that is going to leave me with control of my mouse pointer. The zoom tool which I will use now and I will zoom into this page a little more. I will just move down so we can see the image that we will actually be working with. I’ have got a select area tool as well. This is very handy, so I can select the area of the page that I want to use. Then Ihave got other tools such as brightness of contrast and hue saturation and lightness. These are very similar to tools you might find within image enhancement software. Then I have got a rotate flip so if I want to turn the image round and a few other things like fill so we can fill the page with a different colour if we want to.

So first of all I am going to select the piece of the image that I want, so I am going to choose this crop image tool and that will allow me to cut this section out of this page. In conjunction with this crop image tool I am also going to select this select area tool and that will allow me to select the area that I wish to crop. So I am just going to hold down my left mouse button and drag a box around the area I wish to cut. I am just going to leave off this text box here and get as close down to the bottom as I can and try and get as much of the image as possible. OK so that is my cropped area selected and as we can see on the right hand side here we have a preview of what this is going to look like. Now I’m quite happy with this, so down in the bottom right hand corner there is a little button that has a play symbol on it and that is labelled ‘apply changes’ and I am going to click on it. So the crop has been performed and there is my cropped image on the right hand side

There are a few bits of this image that I am not quite happy with. I do not like the number two in the bottom left corner and there is another image in the top right. So what I am going to do is fill these areas in with white. I can use a fill tool. So select fill tool. And once again we have our select area tool selected, which is going to allow us to select the area that we want to fill. Let’s start off with this two in the bottom corner. I am just going to draw a box around that. At the bottom here we have our colour box. If we click on colours we can actually decide which colour we want to fill the area with. I am just going to leave that as white. Here we have three radio buttons. We have apply to both images, apply to the primary image and apply to the OCR image. Now if I choose apply to both images, its actually going to show me that this is the area that is going to turn white and I can just select apply changes and there we go. And since I chose apply to both images it has turned it white in both the left hand pane and the right hand pane. Now for this area in the top right. I have got my selected area down here in the bottom, so I can hold the left mouse button down and move that area to the top. I can extend it a little just to make sure I have got everything I need. Then I can do exactly the same. I can select apply to both images and choose apply changes. There we see the section of the image has turns white

Right so that’s my little bit of tidying up done in terms of removing things I don’t want, but I also want to do a bit more editing on this image in general. I would quite like to get rid of this background colour and make the colours a little more vivid here. So I am going to extend my selected area to encompass the entire area. Then I will choose the brightness of contrast. This has opened up another little section at the bottom here with two slider bars. Now the only way you are going to get to grips with what these controls is to have a little practice. Now I know that if I extend the brightness here I can actually get rid of the background colour. So it has just made everything that bit lighter and that background colour have disappeared. But now everything has gone a little wishy washy. The colours are a little drained out so what I can do is I can also extend the contrast and that brings out the contrast of all the colours nicely. OK I’m happy with that so, again I am going to choose apply changes. Now this green is a little bright really so this time I am going to go into the hue saturation and lightness tool. And this time we have three slider bars. We have the hue, the saturation and the lightness. So lets have a look at what the hue does. That really just changes the colours between blue, purple, yellow. If we take it all the way down it can go into red. I think I am going to bump that up a little bit and put a bit more blue in there. Here we’ve got the saturation. What this does is decide how saturated the image is going to be with colour. So I can take it all the way down to the left hand side and actually make it black and white if I want to. I am actually going to drag it near to the top so it is really quite saturated with colour. And then we have got the lightness. We can drag the slider all the way up until it is completely white or drag it all the down until it is completely black. I’m just going to darken it up just a little bit. I’m quite happy with that image. 

So what I have done is I have taken those two little bits out in the top right and bottom left, I’ve got rid of that background colour and I’ve tweaked the overall colours just to make them a little bit more suitable for what I need. Once again I can choose apply changes and on both sides now we have an altered image. 

Now I can choose page ready and that will take me back to the main OCR editor window and we can see, rather having the whole page now just with the image at the bottom, we are left with just the image.
