SMA for Individuals - FAQs


Where can I buy an SMA?

Software maintenance agreements are available for purchase directly from Dolphin, via your local Dolphin dealer or alongside new Dolphin software when purchased via the Dolphin website.

Why should I buy SMA?

An SMA gives you access to all minor updates, as well as 2 major upgrades.  Like for like, an SMA is a 50% saving compared to buying the same 2 upgrades.  Plus as an SMA owner, you are first to receive the upgrades and they arrive direct via email.

Can I add an SMA to my current Dolphin Software?

Yes.  You can add a SMA to your current Dolphin software at any time, as long as your software is already up to date.  If your Dolphin software is an older version, an upgrade must be purchased first.

What is the cost of an SMA?

SMAs for individuals and for organisations are both calculated on 20% of the software cost.

Is an SMA exempt from VAT?

If you are UK customer, are registered as blind or partially sighted and purchase SuperNova with an SMA, your order will be eligible for VAT relief at 0%.

Does an SMA include product support?

No.  Telephone and email support are automatically included with your Dolphin software.  Including an SMA doesn’t affect or change your access to free support.

Can I defer one of my free upgrades to a later date?

No. The SMA for individuals includes the next 2 major upgrades.

What happens when I’ve had my 2 major upgrades?

Once your SMA has expired, Dolphin or your Dolphin dealer will contact you to offer the chance to renew your SMA for a further 2 upgrades. 

What do I receive when I purchase an SMA?

You will receive an email confirming you purchased an SMA, along with details of your Dolphin software and serial number.  Please keep this email safe as evidence of your purchase.  Unfortunately we can’t offer paper copies of your email, but please feel free to print a copy of your email confirmation.

What is the cost of an SMA?

SMAs for organisations are calculated on 20% of the software cost.

Why should I buy SMA?

An SMA is an organisation’s commitment to their accessibility and their compliance to disability legislation. An SMA for organisations includes all minor updates & bug fixes, as well as major upgrades – all for 12 months.  On average, an SMA is a 50% saving compared to buying upgrades in the same 12 month period.  Most organisations, large and small, choose to include an SMA alongside their Dolphin software, as it offers the best value for money, as well as predictable maintenance cost that is easy to budget for.

Can I buy an SMA for longer than 12 months?

Yes.  An SMA can be purchased for any number of years depending on your organisation’s budget and project requirements. Talk to Dolphin or your Dolphin dealer about your accessibility requirements.

Does the SMA automatically renew?

Yes.  SMA for organisations are an annual reoccurring cost.  Every 12 months (or longer if purchased for a longer term) you will receive a new invoice for the next 12 months, payable on 30 days credit.

Does an SMA include product support?

No.  Telephone and email support are automatically included with your Dolphin software.  Including an SMA doesn’t affect or change your access to free support.
