Vacancy: Accessibility Software Testing Intern

About the role:
Thomas Pocklington Trust (TPT) and RNIB are collaborating with organisations to create new opportunities for blind and partially sighted people to find employment through the Get Set Progress (GSP) Internship programme. Dolphin is delighted to be offering an internship as part of the Get Set Progress scheme.
Dolphin is a world leader in software for people who are blind, partially sighted, and neurodiverse, with a distribution network spanning over forty countries. Our software makes a real difference to our customers — helping individuals connect with family and friends, enabling students to fully engage and succeed in education, and empowering employees to excel in a variety of work settings.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our testing team. As an Accessibility Software Testing Intern, you will assist with quality assurance of Dolphin assistive technologies by identifying and helping resolve accessibility barriers that may prevent users from engaging fully with our software, websites, and applications.
Areas of responsibility:
- Test Dolphin websites, assistive technology software, and mobile applications with speech and braille. Identify, document, and troubleshoot issues.
- Assist in usability testing to ensure products are intuitive and user-friendly.
- Prepare and maintain test plans and test cases.
- Document findings and test coverage in a clear, organized manner.
- Collaborate with team members to suggest improvements based on accessibility testing results.
- Stay updated on accessibility best practices and assistive technology developments
Essential criteria:
- Document findings and test coverage in a clear, organized manner.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to read Braille.
- Experience using braille displays and screen readers.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products and operating systems.
- Confidence using IT, including troubleshooting and learning new technologies.
- Willingness to travel to the TPT Hub in London for intern development events throughout the course of the internship programme (costs covered by TPT).
- Having not previously undertaken the Get Set Progress internship programme.
